Animal disease surveillance systems in the EU and the ban for bovine and porcine thrombin







Following the seminar on animal disease surveillance held in the framework of the Working Party of Chief Veterinary hosted by the Spanish Presidency, the Working Party adopted CVO's conclusions.

The European Parliament has voted to ban bovine and porcine thrombin which is used as an additive to bind separate pieces of meat together into one piece. The meat glue has no proven benefit for consumers and might mislead them instead, they said.
