EU Veterinary Week is approaching...
The European Commission (DG SANCO) and FVE are organizing
the first edition of the EU Veterinary Week 2008, a series of events to promote
the EU Community Animal Health Strategy, together with the One-Health concept.
The Veterinary Week, with its theme “prevention is
better than cure” will focus on biosecurity, and in particular biosecurity on
farms and at the border. It will start with a kick off meeting on Monday 10th
November in Brussels.
Later in the same week, on Friday 14 November
there will be a second large event at the Eurotier fair in Hanover, together
with the meeting of the FVE General Assembly.
This week will be followed by several events at
national level. In addition, a specific web site ( www.one-health.eu ) on the European
Veterinary Week is being developed and will be available in all official
languages of the EU. Therefore, the European Veterinary Week is just the
beginning of a series of actions and initiatives on biosecurity and animal
health that will last the whole year.
