EMA releases updated colistin advise

On 27 July, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) updated its colistin advise.

EMA recommends that colistin-containing medicines should only be used in animals as a second line treatment and that their sales should be minimised across all European Union (EU) to reduce the risk of antimicrobial resistance. They recommend a reduction to a target level of 5 mg colistin/population correction unit.
