FAO has launched the Virtual Learning Centers (VLCs).

VLCs are virtual learning hubs established to develop and improve One Health capacities in all FAO regions since summer 2021. They aim to improve regional delivery of online training and to transfer competences required to FAO regional and sub-regional offices. There are six VLCs at the moment, including the VLC REU covering Europe and Central Asia region (53 countries, speaking in English and Russian). These establish and run usually 4-week long tutored courses, which are available in combination with self-tutored modules, webinars and exercises.

The FAO REU prepares a module on ASF African Swine Fever preparedness for Europe in English, that plan to open from 30 May to 30 June 2023. This is a tutored four-week course with interactive modules and lots of reading materials. You may find more information on the attached ASF course brochure.

FAO has offered 20 places for the European private veterinarians via FVE to join this course.
If you are interested to join this course, please inform despoina@fve.org as soon as possible by providing your Name, Email, Position and Organization

FAO is also running a Training Needs Assessment Survey developed for identification of the needs for trainings on animal health. So far, FAO was collecting information relevant to veterinary services but, now, they would appreciate some input from veterinary practitioners.

Please find attached the survey questionnaire, which you are kindly requested to fill in and return it to REU-VLC@fao.org
