Eligibility Requirements

Who can apply:
- Veterinarians in clinical practice or research – Applications for research grants can be made by companion animal veterinarians in private clinical practice or working at a veterinary teaching establishment in a European country member of the Council of Europe.
- Veterinary Medicine students – Applications for research grants can be made by veterinary students, in collaboration with their supervisor at a European educational establishment member of the EAEVE (European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education).
- PhD students – Applications for research grants can be made by veterinary PhD students, in collaboration with and signed by their professor or clinical companion animal practice at the European educational establishment member of the EAEVE (European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education).
- EBVS Resident – Applications for research grants can be made by EBVS Residents, with a preference for ECVCN college, in collaboration with and signed by their supervisor.
Decisions are taken independently of all external influences and the content of all discussions until reaching decisions shall be confidential. Where conflicts of interest arise (e.g. in discussions of research proposals from a veterinary teaching establishment or with a supervisor sitting in the review committee), the review committee member in question will not participate in the evaluation and will not review the proposal.
Ethical approval from the University/Faculty is necessary when applying for the research grant. After receiving the preliminary approval for the grant PURINA® will conduct its Ethical review.

Timeline
- Application deadline: 31st of October
- Results announcement: 29th of November
- End of June 2025: Deadline for finalizing the clinical phase of the project.
- End of August 2025: Deadline for submission of final research results (max 10 pages, plus poster/equivalent deliverable).

Scientific research in the field of companion animal nutrition, for example:
- Age-based or breed-specific diets[1]
- Condition-based nutrition (e.g. diabetes, kidney diseases, etc)[1] or personalised diets
- Veterinary Supplements
- General nutritional research
[1] If a Veterinary or Maintenance Diet should be used, it must be PURINA®.
