Contribution of vaccination to global animal and public health: present and future
- Vaccination has greatly contributed to animal health, animal welfare
and public health and human wellbeing;
- Vaccines are important instruments in the veterinary toolbox
- Vaccines can prevent diseases, reducing the need to treat with
antibiotics;
- But they are no miracle solutions: first requisite is proper biosecurity,
good housing, husbandry, feeding and genetics;
- Challenges remain with availability, correct handling, correct
administration, vaccine hesitation movement and others;
