Horses are often used to collect blood, serum, or other substances for production of biologics and therapeutics used in humans and other animals (e.g. PMSG). There are few international guidelines that provide recommendations for caring for horses kept for these purposes. Therefore, a group of veterinary experts drafted recommendations on how to ensure good welfare of horses kept for these purposes.
