The Federation of Veterinarians of Europe encourages all veterinarians wishing to provide their services across borders temporarily, to comply with the rules laid down in the EU and National Legislation.

When a veterinarian wants to cross the border to carry out some tasks and/or provide specific services temporarily in another EU country, he/she needs to:

  • Contact the host country competent authority/statutory body here;
  • Inform the host country competent authority/statutory body about the nature and time of the service/task provision by filling in a prior declaration;
  • Submit a pro-forma registration if requested;
  • Check if the professional indemnity insurance is covering cross-border services provided.
