As FVE, we are distraught by the news of the developments in Ukraine.
Our first thoughts are with those affected, both people and animals. Therefore, we call on all parties to consider human rights and animal welfare and to exclude all human and veterinary medicines, active pharmaceutical ingredients and any other raw materials required to manufacture diagnostics, treatments and vaccines from the scope of sanctions. We also call upon all parties to temporarily relax the import requirements to let refugees take along their animals while fleeing, e.g. regarding the need for rabies testing of dogs.
Thinking of all people, including our veterinary colleagues caught in this dreadful conflict.
What can we do as a veterinary profession?
FVE, with the support of FECAVA and WVA, developed a web portal – Vets4Ukraine – as hub to coordinate aid by European veterinarians to help Ukrainian veterinarians, their families and animals.
